Punching Tools

Punching tools are metal working tools used with a punch press to create a hole in a work surface. Punching can be done with other materials besides metal, such as paper, plastics or fibre, but is commonly associated with metal working.

Punch and die sets are often sold together to provide both the tool used to perforate the sheet's work surface and the die to receive a punch. Together they form a metal forming system used in forging. After the punch is performed excess metal is left behind inside the die, this is known as the slug.
