Welding safety equipment and apparel protect welders from heat, burns, retina damage and sparks. Safety equipment includes welding respirators, which are flame-resistant devices that protect a worker's lungs during welding and soldering applications. They have elastic straps that secure over the head and install under welding helmets. Welding apparel includes shrouds, which protect the neck and upper torso from burns and extreme heat, and welding goggles. Welding goggles protect the eyes from vision-damaging UV and infrared light.
