Auger Bits
Auger bits are spiral shaped drill bits that are used with a carpenter’s brace for drilling holes in wood. The twist is helical and at the end of the twist there are two sharp points called spurs, which create a circle equal in diameter to a hole. Auger bits consist of a sharp point on their tip, which aids in the precision of drilling. As the auger rotates, it penetrates deeper into the wood and creates a hole in a piece of wood. Auger bits are used for boring holes into bulkheads and general timber applications.
