Confined Space Fall Protection Equipment
Confined space fall protection equipment protects workers against falls in confined spaces such as manholes and shafts. It includes manhole collars and emergency retrieval systems. Manhole collars are flanged, cylindrical devices that sit inside a manhole. They provide a portable base for an emergency retrieval system. An emergency retrieval system consists of a mast, davit arm, lanyard and hook. The hook attaches to a worker's harness. In the event of a fall or emergency, the retrieval system retracts the hook and brings the worker back to the surface.
