Machine Keystock
Keystocks are rectangular, square, or flat pieces of metal that have been processed to transmit torque to a shaft. Keystock can be cut to precise or custom sizing for exact fit. They are bars that fit into a slot called a “keyway”. They can be connected to several different components: sheaves, gears, pulleys, sprockets or couplings but their main function is to serve as a torque locking mechanism.
Key stock must be made of extremely durable material, most are constructed from highly processed steel. It is crucial to verify a key stocks rating before use, using a key stock of an insufficient rating can result in a critical failure.
