Surface Grinding Wheels
Surface grinding wheels, also known as toolroom wheels, are used for stock removal, grinding flat surfaces, and finishing. They are formed by bonding abrasive grains to a backing of rubber, shellac, or resin. Surface grinding wheels are available in several shapes, including flat (Type 1), one side recessed (Type 5), cup (Type 6), flared cup (Type 11), and shallow dish (Type 12). Common materials include aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, CBN, and diamond. Choose from coarse to ultrafine grade, or corresponding grit, depending on material being worked.
