Thread Sealant Tapes
Thread sealant tapes are PTFE tapes used in plumbing to provide a leak-proof seal and prevent cross threading. Without thread sealant tapes, fittings screwed together may not be completely leak proof. Tightly wrapping thread sealant tapes around the threads lubricates fittings and creates a tight seal. Thread sealant tapes are commonly used in pressurized water systems and centralized heating systems where they are essential for safe and sustainable operation. They can be used in temperatures up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. These tapes are available in different colors for color coding pipe. Thread sealant tapes may be paired with a paste that performs the same function, which ensures the tightest seal.
