Splicing & Core-Starting Tapes
Splicing and core starting tapes are used in milling and printing operations to join rolls of materials together. They help avoid rethreading and slowing down of the milling process. These tapes also secure paper to the core to prevent it from slipping or spinning. They adhere to a variety of coated and uncoated paper grades. Repulpable splicing tape dissolves in water, is biodegradable and can be recycled. Splicing and core starting tapes come single or double coated depending on the type of splice desired. Double-coated tapes allow flying splices and overlap splices, while butt splices can be done with single-coated splicing tapes. A rubber or acrylic adhesive is used depending on the surface material. Splicing tapes are also used in tabbing and roll closing applications and perform well under a wide range of temperatures.
