Butt connectors facilitate a variety of simple wire-to-wire connections to conduct electricity. Also known as butt splices, these connectors feature open ends for simple crimping and a built-in wire stop to ensure accurate positioning. Butt connectors are available in a wide range of insulated and noninsulated materials, with vinyl and nylon the most common for insulated splices. Vinyl insulated butt connectors are cost effective but provide no additional protection and have lower operating temperatures than nylon. Nylon insulated butt connectors feature a seamless barrel that allows crimping along any part of the connector.
