Masking & Painter's Tapes

Masking and painter's tapes are pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSA) used in masking applications. Painter's tapes prevent paint from seeping into trim and leaving blurry lines. They adhere to a variety of surfaces, including glass, without leaving behind sticky residue or breaking down when exposed to sunlight. Painter's tapes come in different grades. The most common grade allows clean removal up to 14 days after it is applied. A special outdoor painter's tape sticks to surfaces like brick and concrete, while a more delicate painter's tape can be applied to freshly painted surfaces. Painter's tape should be removed immediately after painting with a slow, light tug, as fast ripping may strip paint.
